David A. Kingrey, M.D.
David A. Kingrey, M.D. joined The Ochsner Eye Center in 1998, and founded what is now Vision Surgery Consultants. Dr. Kingrey is a native of Wichita and a graduate of The University of Kansas Medical School. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Kingrey completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Ohio State University.
Dr. Kingrey has extensive experience as an ophthalmologist and ophthalmic microsurgery. Dr. Kingrey has performed over 35,000 cataract and 7,000 Lasik procedures. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society, The American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Jeffrey A. Boomer, M.D.
Jeffrey A. Boomer, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in corneal transplants, cataract surgery, and laser vision correction. A proud native of Manhattan, KS, Dr. Boomer earned his B.S. in Microbiology from Kansas State University, and his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Department of Internal Medicine, and served his residency in Ophthalmology at Dean A. McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Boomer completed a fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases, and Cataract, Corneal and Refractive Surgery at the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute. In 2006, he joined the well-respected Hunkeler Eye Institute in Kansas City. Vision Surgery Consultants was excited to have Dr. Boomer join the practice in 2011, where he continues to specialize in Cataract, Corneal and Refractive Surgery. He is currently a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, and Christian Ophthalmology Society. Dr. Boomer also currently serves on the board of the Kansas Eye Bank.
Finny T. John, M.D.
Finny T. John, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specialized to perform standard and premium cataract surgery, as well as glaucoma surgery including selective laser trabeculoplasty, various forms of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and filtration surgery. Dr. John is a native of Troy, Michigan, and grew up in New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University and medical school training at SUNY Upstate Medical University before transitioning to NYU Winthrop Hospital for an internship, where he was named Preliminary Intern of the Year.
Dr. John moved to Oklahoma City in 2017 where he completed his residency at the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute. Next, he completed a glaucoma fellowship at the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute under the mentorship of Drs. Gregory Skuta, Mahmoud Khaimi, Ben Harvey, and Andrew Bailey, and he was given the Annie Moreau, MD Fellow Teaching Award. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Refractive Surgery Alliance.
Jack Klenda, M.D.
Jack W. Klenda, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, LASIK, and corneal surgery. Dr. Klenda was born and raised in Wichita, KS. He attended Kansas State University for his undergraduate studies, followed by earning a medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He went on to complete internship training at the University of Kansas before moving to Long Island, NY to complete residency training at Nassau University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Klenda then pursued fellowship training at Hoopes Vision in Salt Lake City, Utah for further specialization in Corneal and Refractive Surgery under Drs. Majid Moshirfar, Phillip Hoopes, and Michael Bradley. He currently is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Klenda enjoys spending time with his wife and family, playing tennis and pickleball, and traveling. He is very excited to be back home serving the Wichita community!
Francis Soans, M.D.
Francis Soans, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, including laser procedures and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
Dr. Soans completed medical school and internship at St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India, graduating in 1988. He then devoted 2 years to mission service, providing solo in-patient hospital care to an underserved rural population, before returning to St. John’s to complete a residency in Ophthalmology. In the U.S., Dr. Soans completed an internship in Internal Medicine and an Ophthalmology residency at UMDNJ-Cooper Hospital (joint program with Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia), also serving as Chief Resident. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor, under the mentorship of Dr.s Paul Lichter, Sayoko Moroi, Christina Bruno and Terry Bergstrom.
Dr. Soans has been providing specialty glaucoma care since 2004, formerly in Mississippi and in Texas, before moving to Kansas. Dr. Soans has been in practice in Wichita since 2013, and joined Vision Surgery Consultants in 2023. He is a board-certified Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and an active participant in the American Board of Ophthalmology’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.

Waterfront Surgery Center is a new 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility for outpatient surgery. This new surgery center has been designed from the ground up to maximize patient care, safety, and surgical outcomes.
World Wide Missions
Our doctors and staff have given free cataract surgery to blind individuals in India, Panama, Ecuador, Honduras, China and other countries. Each ophthalmologist on our team has participated in mission work, donated free surgery to the blind, and lectured and taught surgery all over the world.
