Laser Vision Correction
iLASIK is the ultimate in laser vision correction. It is the culmination of everything we have learned about LASIK over the past decade. iLASIK is the all-laser, blade-free method for 100% customizable laser vision correction. Now that the iLASIK procedure is available, there is no reason to put off having laser vision correction surgery! Why?
- Most people are candidates! We offer FREE refractive evaluations to assess your candidacy.
- iLASIK technology is the most advanced and innovative technique. It is also the safest and most effective laser vision correction available.
- The iLASIK procedure is quick, uncomplicated, and patients experience minimal discomfort.
iLASIK is the only vision correction surgery approved for military aviators and NASA astronauts. If it’s good enough for pilots and astronauts, then it’s good enough for those of us who are earthbound!
Why choose Vision Surgery Consultants for your laser vision correction? We are proud of our personalized patient experience. Our exceptional refractive team will put you at ease and make sure you are well educated before proceeding. Vision Surgery Consultants provides only premium technology, and does not offer a tiered pricing system for lesser technologies. Ninety-seven percent of mild-to-moderately nearsighted patients achieved 20/20 vision or better with the iLASIK procedure.
Dr. Boomer was the first iLASIK provider in Kansas. We are board-certified ophthalmologists, and have performed over 9,000 laser vision correction procedures. As most providers in Wichita still use a blade for corneal flap creation, our all-laser method affords less risk of flap complications and a safer surgery for you.
Getting started is easy! Simply schedule a free refractive evaluation with us at our Wichita office to determine if you are a good candidate. At your appointment, we will tell you more about the iLASIK procedure and review our successful patient results. Vision Surgery Consultants takes a conservative approach to laser vision correction. Please know that we always have your best interests at heart. We look forward to meeting you and helping you obtain the life-changing benefits of laser vision correction!
PRK Surgery
(Photorefractive Keratectomy)
PRK surgery (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is an alternative laser vision correction procedure that produces excellent results. PRK uses the same laser treatment as LASIK surgery, except no corneal flap is needed. Instead, the thin outer skin layer of the cornea is removed and a customized laser treatment is applied to the surface. The skin layer regenerates itself over a few days. There can be more discomfort and a longer recovery period with PRK; however, some patients are not good LASIK candidates. PRK surgery is sometimes the safer option and with the same visual results as LASIK.
If you have been told in the past that you are not a good candidate for LASIK, please contact Vision Surgery Consultants to schedule a free refractive evaluation at our Wichita office. Our eye surgeons and staff look forward to discussing your PRK candidacy!

iLASIK
How do I find out if I’m a candidate for laser vision correction?
LASIK is an all-laser, blade-free procedure that allows for 100% customizable treatment. Unlike traditional LASIK, which uses a blade to create the corneal flap, iLASIK uses a laser for that step, reducing the risk of flap complications and making it a safer procedure.
Is iLASIK safe?
Yes. iLASIK is the only laser vision correction procedure approved for military aviators and NASA astronauts. It is widely regarded as the safest and most effective option available.
What kind of results can I expect?
97% of mild-to-moderately nearsighted patients achieved 20/20 vision or better with the iLASIK procedure.
Is the procedure painful?
Most patients experience minimal discomfort. The procedure itself is quick and uncomplicated.
Why should I choose Vision Surgery Consultants for iLASIK?
Dr. Boomer was the first iLASIK provider in Kansas, and our team has performed over 9,000 laser vision correction procedures. We are board-certified ophthalmologists who use only all-laser technology, something most providers in Wichita still don’t offer.
PRK Surgery
What is PRK, and who is it for?
PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is an alternative to LASIK for patients who aren’t good candidates for LASIK. It uses the same laser treatment but removes the thin outer layer of the cornea rather than creating a flap. The skin regenerates within a few days.
Does PRK produce the same results as LASIK?
PRK achieves the same visual outcomes as LASIK. Recovery may take a bit longer, and there can be more initial discomfort, but it is an excellent option for the right patient
I was told I’m not a candidate for LASIK. Does that mean I can’t have laser vision correction?
Not necessarily. We encourage you to schedule a free refractive evaluation with us. PRK may be a safe and effective alternative for you.
